Katherine trained at Edinburgh College of Art, gaining a BA(Hons) in Drawing and Painting in 1989. During her time at Edinburgh she was tutored by many of the great names within Scottish Contemporary Art including David Michie, John Houston and George Donald with John Bellany, Sir Robin Philipson and Elizabeth Blackadder occasionally popping into walk through the wonderful studios underneath the Castle walls, to talk to the students. Katherine also has an MA in The History of Britain and the First World War, and has published a book: Cornerstones, The Life of HM Farmar from Omdurman to the Western Front (Helion).
